SSL certificates are used to encrypt data between browsers and websites. They are a fundamental part of modern website security and included free with all our hosting.

If you have an existing site but are looking for a new hosting provider we will help you get your site set up on our servers.

The domain name system (DNS) is sometimes referred to as the address book of the internet, it’s what allows browsers to find any site on the web. Setting it up correctly is important to ensure your site can be found. When we add your site to our servers we will set up your DNS.

This is the amount of hard drive space provided on our servers on our plans. This size is suitable for most of the sites we manage. If your site needs more space it is available at additional cost.

Our servers make backups of your site so if something goes wrong you can restore it from one of the backups. On-site backups are stored on the same server as the site, so if the server experiences an issue, those backups may not be reliable. For a more comprehensive backup solution, storing backups of your site in an external location as well is recommended (off-site backups). Off-site backups are included in our managed hosting plans.

Off-site backups are copies of your website and database stored on a different server than your website. These provide an additional layer of protection in case there are problems with the server hosting your site.

Hacking of websites is extremely prevalent across the internet. We manage site security in our managed hosting plans and put in place multiple layers of safeguards to mitigate the intrusion attempts. We monitor threats across all our sites and update security policies accordingly, ensuring every site on our managed hosting plans benefit. Furthermore we receive software vulnerability notifications from third party providers and act upon relevant notifications to keep sites secure.

Our uptime monitoring system alerts us when your website goes down so we can respond as quickly as possible and get it back up and running again.

We would love to be able to guarantee that your site will never be hacked but we can’t, no one can, some hacks are extremely sophisticated. What we can offer is, when possible, to clean your site of the infection or recover it to a state prior to when it was hacked. *In the event of persistent malware that we are unable to remove we reserve the right to recommend you hire cybersecurity experts to remove the infection or we will discuss alternative options. This is at your cost. We will do our best to recover your site ourselves first before recommending this option.

We will manage administering your web server for you so you don’t have to deal with configuration options or any other technical aspects of managing sites.

Each month you will receive a monthly report with statistics on your site including information on how often your site is being viewed, the maintenance we perform on the site to keep your site up-to-date and the uptime during the month.

Software is constantly changing which is why it needs to be updated regularly. It is important to update software in a timely fashion as they often include security patches to keep sites secure. We take care of this for you on our managed hosting plans.

Unfortunately some software updates don’t always go smoothly. Remember the Crowdstrike software update in 2024 that caused airports around the world to shutdown? That’s probably about as bad as it gets but smaller issues arise all the time. In the event of an update breaking your site, we will fix it.

Some of our managed hosting plans include a set amount of time each month for content edits. If you have content that needs adding or updating (courses, blog posts, social media content etc), we use this time to handle those edits.
